The Nasty Nats have sunk to a new low with a series of "misogynist" attacks on a woman who has wrongly been identified as pro-UK campaigner Agent P.
The woman — who we are choosing not to name — has faced online abuse and even a spiteful campaign to wreck her AirBnB rental business.
She has been involved in the Scotland in Union campaign but she is categorically not the person behind the popular Unionist Twitter account Agent P.
The woman has been targeted by vile abuse for years, alongside two other staunch pro-UK campaigners Jane Lax and Jill Stephenson.
One recent tweet posted their photos online under the heading "Dark eyes of evil... three of the most vile nastiest women of scottish Unionism."
Another tweet said: "Look at agentP and Lomax[sic]! Both English, both sold houses for a song where they were from! Bought hotels in Scotland on the cheap! And both are tories! Benefitting from all Scotland has to offer! Yet put us down at every opportunity!!!"
Agent P told us: "For the record, I can certainly confirm that I am not English, female, a Tory or a hotel owner!"
He added that the woman involved has suffered years of torment since 2019 when she was first mistakenly identified as Agent P.
He said: "She does AirBnB rentals and they left comments saying it was rat-infested etc. She went to the police and they would do nothing.
"She's trying to distance herself from it and was very upset by it all. She has nothing to do with me whatsoever, but she contacted me to see what I could do to help her."
'My husband doesn't get the same level of abuse'
Mrs Lax, who lives in Moray and reported Nicola Sturgeon to the police for breaking her own Covid mask rules, was wrongly described as the owner of the Aberlour Hotel with people threatening to boycott the business.
She said: "They could find out I work for the council, its not a secret, but this kind of misinformation could impact on people's livelihoods. It is just nonsense.
"My husband is also active on social media but he doesn't get the same level of abuse and neither do any of the other men on Twitter who aren't afraid to speak out in favour of the Union.
"I think it is misogynistic and there is an element of trying to silence the women on our side by bullying us and ganging up on us.
"I was perhaps naive in putting myself out there in the first place but it is too late now. I get abusive letters to my house and the police were here on Sunday night to take my statement about the latest threatening message."
She too is frequently described as being English, although she was born in Edinburgh.
The third woman involved is Jill Stephenson, Professor Emeritus of History and Honorary Professorial Fellow in the School of History, Classics and Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh.
She has been an outspoken supporter of the United Kingdom for years and frequently appears on the letters pages of Scotland's newspapers.
She told the Scottish Express the Nasty Nats often use the term 'auld' in their attacks on her, adding: "Nationalists use 'old' as a term of abuse - dating back to 2014, when they reckon the votes of older Scots deprived them of their rightful 'independence'."
She added: "Some of them have wrongly decided that I am an American - there is an American writer called Jill Stephenson, but they just assume we are the same person.
"I have a very monotonous pedigree - born, educated to to PhD level in Edinburgh, worked one year at Glasgow University and 39 at Edinburgh.
"Separatists have complained en masse to Edinburgh University about me, unaware that - although I am 'auld' - I am retired and can't be sacked, which was their objective.
"The separatist campaign in Scotland has been vile, but I can't let silence me. I do not care about their opinion of me because I do not value anything about them."
